Different stages of projects

CAPULISPUNGO - PROJECT "NUCANCHIK"
We have been talking with a group from Capulispungo for some time about training them how to start and run their own organization. This Saturday we signed a agreement in our office to start the process. The plan is meet every other Saturday for one year.
CACHISAGUA - PROJECT "FLET"
We have begun the two year bible study program in Cachisagua, and have 13 students in the process! They will meet every week, and we will visit them once a month.
FACUNDO VELA - PROJECT "NUCANCHIK"
We are in the initial stages of setting up a project in Facundo Vela, which is a small community 3 hours from Riobamba. We met with the pastor of the church on Monday, but not in his home town. We met with him in Ambato, only an hour away. He comes here every Monday to sell his produce. So our meeting took place right on the sidewalk!

Getting started

Even though we officially "started" FLET last week in Sablog, I still needed to go again this week to help them get organized. The same in Cachisagua (below). We are seeing the need to give training in how to organize an event, a program, or an organization.
We visited a new community "Pachancho." The pastor wants to form and train a folklore music group, which consists of guitars, charangos, and drum with no amplification. So we made a visit to evaluate the potential and possibilities. They have a great interest, but we still need to see a few of them who will dedicate the time on their own to learn to play an instrument.
Starting FLET

Praise God! A new community wants to begin the bible program "FLET" in their congregation! Actually the community ("Sablog") is not new to us. We gave a few workshops there three years ago, but we lost contact with them. They sought us out! Saturday we held a meeting to register the new students. Next Saturday we begin.
We were privileged to witness a beautiful rainbow as we left Sablog!
The next day, Sunday, the leaders from Cachisagua came to our apartment in Riobamba to make the final details to start FLET in their church as well.
Since I starting visiting Cachisagua a few years ago to give music workshops, we had to hold a small jam session after discussing FLET.
Discussing Projects

Saturday we visited Capulispungo with a good friend Patricio Vega to discuss with the church members possible projects.
After a brief meeting to get to know one another, we headed out to survey the town.
The town recently inaugurated a new water tank, but, to our surprise, not everyone has free access to the water.
That became a topic of much discussion. (And we still don't understand the reason.)
We hiked down to the stream that has plenty of water, but no pumping system to get it to the fields.
The lack of crops is not just a water problem, but also a problem of community coordination and of marketing.
Saturday, January 27th, Patricio and his wife will return with us to Capulispungo to continue discussing the problem and possible solutions.

We now live in Riobamba, but still have our house in El Tingo in Quito. Our first plan is to sell the house, so last week we had ceramic tile installed in the garage, dining room, and bedroom in the front house. Two weeks before we gave the front of the house a new coat of paint. We still want to fix a few things before putting the house up for sale. But also, a couple we know in El Tingo would like to rent the front house. We leave it in God's hands and in His timing. He knows best!
