The Reason for the Foundation

I finally witnessed it with my own eyes. Luis and I visited the local market near Capulispungo where the farmers, like Angel and Rosa, sell their products. I had always heard that they don't sell well, and I wanted to understand the problem firsthand. Luis and I asked at the market how much a sack of potatoes was selling for. The answer was, "Twelve dollars." We didn't expect to see anyone we knew, but in a few minutes we had a divine appointment with Angel and Rosa from Capulispungo. We found them selling three sacks of potatoes. Angel wasn't sure of the going price. We talked for a while and left them with their potatoes. A while later I met them again in the market and asked, "How much did you sell your potatoes for?" He answered, "Five dollars a sack." I couldn't believe that they sold them for five dollars, when, twenty feet away, they were selling for twelve. For now, I assume they just accept it as "that's the way it is." But it doesn't have to be that way. That's why we started the Foundation: to educate the farmers on how to market their products. It's going to take a lot of work and time, but I just can't stand around, watch, and do nothing. James 2:14-17
